Technology
Last Tuesday, Texas Instruments has isued a rebate worth $100 on the TI-99/4A home computer. Without the rebate, the price of the device is currently $299, and the original release price was $525. The 4A is seen as a great improvement over the previous TI-99/4 due to a number of added features. The original was the first home computer to be 16-bit and has some of the best graphical capabilities available.
Video Games
Nintendo has released a sequel to the famous Donkey Kong, called Donkey Kong Jr. The basic gameplay is the same, but the levels are new, and very fun. The game takes place after Jumpman has saved Lady from Donkey Kong, and has captured Donkey Kong. You play as Donkey Kong's son, Jr., who comes to rescue his father from the clutches of Jumpman. There is also an additional feature wherein Jr. can climb vines.
Film
Just today saw the release of a number of notable movies.
The first to note is the third of the Friday the 13th movies, titled "Friday the 13th Part 3". This popular "slasher" series shows no sign of disappearing anytime soon.
The second is a romantic drama entitled "An Officer and A Gentleman," starring Richard Gere, Debra Winger, and Louis Gossett Jr. The plot involves a romance centered around Gere's and Winger's characters during the former's training in the U.S. Navy.
The third is "The Tempest," an adventure, comedy, drama, and romance that is a current-day adaption of Shakespeare's play of the same name. The film features a number of well-known actors like Susan Sarandon, and also introduces a new actress named Molly Ringwald.

This is a not-quite-official announcement of the Discord server I just created. Completely free. Don't need to be a supporter on Locals. Don't even need to be a member.
It's definitely not a secret that this community hasn't been active since Matt Hartley hasn't been involved. I think there are a few reasons why (one being that I had a lot less time to devote to it than I realized), and I think that making a completely free alternative would help, and I unfortunately don't think I can do that on Locals! You have to pay if you want to post. Discord should be free (unless I did it wrong).
Feel free to come join! It's still kind of experimental at this point, and I don't know how well I'll handle content moderation, which will probably be the biggest challenge.
